Well....COLBEY and I had a very rough day yesterday. Yesterday morning we were planning on leaving to go see the new puppies in VA. Right before we were ready to leave COLBEY found my old razor blade head in the trash and decided to chew it up. I found four blades but I could not find the fifth one. So, we took her into the vet for x-rays. Sure enough the fifth one was in her belly.
I spoke with several vets to see who could treat her the fastest and who was the most cost effective. Cheat Lake Animal Hospital could see her the quickest so we took her up there. They did some blood work and reviewed her x-rays from the other vet clinic. The dr. said she could pass the blade on her own but at any point in time it could turn and really hurt something inside. I couldn't take that risk so I decided to go ahead with the exploratory surgery.
COLBEY was in surgery for just a little over an hour. She did excellent with it. The dr. did a full exploratory of her abdomen and everything checked out great. No injury due to the blade. They also found some hair, grass, and two huge chunks of raw hide in her stomach....she is so rotten! She was pretty pathetic yesterday evening. Her tongue stuck out the side of her mouth for a while and she had a really hard time laying down. Finally around midnight I got her to lay down and sleep. She did really well all night. Only got up once at 2:30am she was sitting up crying so I had to make her lay back down. She got up around 8am this morning to potty and then went back to sleep till around 11am. Today she is acting like nothing ever happened. She ate some rice and took her meds. I am staying home with her this weekend and hopefully she will start to feel better soon....I think she already is. I am so glad we caught everything in time and got Miss COLBs taken care of.
Please keep COLBEY in your thoughts and prayers for a full and quick recovery! We have training to do!
Love,

What we have been doing.....
COLBEY and I are doing well. We went to Panera together last week for our first outing in a while. COLB did pretty well. I originally planned on putting her under a booth, but they were too tight for her to fit into. So, we took a seat in the corner and I put her behind me. At first, she kept popping up to smell the food. She settled down after I "talked" to her for a minute to tell her she was working, and needed to be good. After that she slept, and I got to eat. Once we were finished at Panera, we took her to the park. It was a really quiet park, down in a valley, so I let her off lead, and she loved it! I don't let her do things like that often. I was really proud of her...she did really good for not being out in a long time.
I do think COLBEY is getting ready to start her first heat, so I am giving her a break until I know for sure. She has not been listening very well (which is not like her), her belly and nipples are swollen, and we had a visiting boy dog in the house below ours that neighbors our fence...anytime he was out COLBEY went crazy, trying to jump the fence and carrying on.
Also, this past Tuesday I went to the prison in Morgantown....after we went to the wrong one at Hazelton. It was very nice. I got up and spoke to tell everyone my story, and about COLBEY. It was fun...I love doing these things. It gets me prepared for what I want to do. I am a senior this year in high school, so I am thinking about schools and all that fun stuff. I would like to either go to Bergin or the new school at UNCW. Well, I will write again soon...I gotta go take care of my whiny girl. :) lol
Love,

Updates...

Yes, I have been a terrible blogger! I have had a lot going on lately though.....
Well to start off, I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Everything went great. I was very sore and out of it for a couple of days, but everything has healed perfectly. After I was healed up and ready to work with COLBEY, I had some things come up and I ended up quitting my job, and COLBEY's "dad" and I split up after a long relationship. So, needless to say, I have not had time to work with COLB. I am still just not in the physical, or mental state to be out with her. I am to give her my full attention when we are working and I am not to that point yet. I have been alot better over the last few days, I hope to continue. It is not easy at any age, especially for me at 16, to lose a job and your partner all at the same time. I know this extra time now will allow me to work towards the future I want for myself, and not be concerned about the demands of others. COLBEY has been concerned about me though.... She was very confused about what was going on with mom that she couldn't lick my face because I was sore. As soon as she could lick mommy's face again, it was wet from mom's tears. COLBEY never fails to comfort me though. Even when I was crying, she could make me smile with her kisses. I know she is eager to get back out, and hopefully next week we will get that chance.
Here are a couple pictures I have edited....one says "boo bear"....yes that is what I call COLB sometimes....I don't know how she got that name. Also there is one from when she was a pup...still to at 9 months she sleeps like this...
Enjoy..

Busy...
We have been busy since COLBEY achieved her vest....
First we went to our local mall. All was well until we were rudely addressed by security officer... The officer told me I had to be blind or deaf to have COLBEY in the mall. Needless to say, I reported the officer to her supervisor. After we left the mall I contacted Kyria about the situation so we could straighten things out that way there is not any future problems. So far Kyria or I have not had any luck contacting the people we need to. Tomorrow I plan on trying to talk to the supervisor if all goes well. So...I will let you know how that goes.
Okay, now to the good part....
We took COLBEY to Ohio with us this past weekend for our vacation/family reunion! We took off on Thursday evening and arrived late that night. Friday morning we got up and went to the zoo! We were only there for a few hours, which was plenty. COLBEY did great in such a crowded not to mention HOT place. She stayed right with me, and listened to all her commands. We took a few breaks in some air conditioned places to rest, which was perfect. After the zoo, I decided COLBEY needed to rest the rest of the day. We left her at the hotel (with the front desk knowing she was in our room) and headed to eat dinner.
Saturday was a relaxed morning. We were to be at the family reunion at 1pm, so we went to the mall for lunch. We parked on the opposite end of the mall and walked to the food court. Again, COLBEY did great...and we were not approached by any officers :]. The food court was COLBEY's first dining experience. It took her a few minutes to settle in and lay down for good, after that she slept. I was very impressed. After the mall we headed off to the reunion. COLB was pretty tired. I brought her collapsable kennel, so she was in and out of that. There was also a very nice playground that COLBEY and I played on. I am going to try and upload the videos I have of us. Sunday we had a brunch at our cousins home. I left COLBEY off duty of course. She enjoyed watching all the kids run and play and mommy played some ball with her. Sunday afternoon, again we went out to the mall and COLBEY stayed at the hotel, since Saturday was such a long day for her. Monday we went to COSI. COSI did not go as well as I had hoped. COLBEY was fine and well behaved at first, but that wore off after about an hour. After paying, and doing a few things on the first floor, we went into the space exhibit....I will even say it was very loud in there, and I think COLBEY just went into high gear then. I recognized she was very stressed so we went out into the main area to relax on a bench. After I thought she had cooled off we started walking. There was a power chair in the distance and for whatever reason that spooked her....she just immediately sat in the middle of the hall, and I had to get her to move with treats. She has never done that before. I figured we better go outside and just leave the whole atmosphere. We sat outside for a good half hour before going back in. We ate in the little cafe of COSI and she did just fine. Slept the whole time. Hoping she had recuperated I tried to get to see a little bit of the museum, my mom was going to find a quiet spot to chill out. Unfortunately, there were none except downstairs in the cafe. I took COLBEY to the cafe in a corner where we stayed until we all left. I think she was just ready to be home, because when we got home, she slept all night until 10 (usually my wake up call is her at 7) and she slept about 6 hours straight on Tuesday. She is very happy to be home and I don't plan on taking her anywhere until next week.
Well, I appologize in advance because I probably will not update again until the week of the teens. I am having my wisdom teeth taken out next week :/. I will be working and working on my forever long list of things to do until then.
Thanks for reading!

YAY COLBEY!
Well, today was the day! We met up with Miss Heidi today at the mall to do some public access training, and COLBEY did great! Heidi was very pleased with her. We only had one issue when we got there...she started to growl at someone as we walked around the corner. I think the person caught COLBEY off guard and that is why she had a bad reaction. Heidi and I immediately corrected her, and she got the idea. We passed by that same person again after and she did just fine. Otherwise, the rest of the trip went perfect. COLBEY got to experience a game store, J.C. Penney, Bath & Body Works, and we even walked around the food court and sat there. COLBEY had great body language, we did some commands out in the middle of the mall, which she did not mind at all, and had some things drop on the floor for her to "leave it". We spent about an hour an a half at the mall, so we took 2 long breaks to let her calm down from everything. I was so happy she did so well. I was a bit worried because she has been kind of bad lately...lol..she is just going through that phase. So, we got to keep her vest! YAY!
After the mall excursion, we had to exchange cars and kids....I had an appointment with the oral surgean (I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out..yuck) with mom, and everyone else had to make a trip north to pick up some supplies for our bathroom being remodled (like we need more chaos in our life). So, I had to take COLBEY into the appointment with me even though I wanted her to be able to relax the rest of the day. Fortunately, she was so tired she basically slept the entire time we were there except to walk in, and walk from the waiting room th the exam room. All in all, GREAT DAY. We will be doing alot of short, low key, public outings to get COLBEY all good. :]
All for now,
