Updates

So sorry it has been forever since I have written. It has been crazy with the holidays and it really hasn't slowed down much. COLBEY is good...she is in heat. It has only been 3 days and I feel like it needs to be over already. I have been extremely busy with school. Taking classes at home and 15 hours of college classes each week and working on scholarships and applying to the vet tech program. I have to put in 20 hours at a vet clinic before applying and my first day is this Saturday. COLBEY and I have been out some, we have been to the movies, the mall, and a couple restaurants. Now we will not be going for a while though, it will test mine and COLBEY's patience....she loves to work. She has gotten "wave" and "bow" pretty well and we are working on "visit". Well, I am off to class. Update more later.

We are back into working :)

No more breaks for us....COLBEY and I have been busy since she finished recovering from her unexpected surgery.

Earlier this month we went to South Middle School in Morgantown to do a few presentations to the students about service dogs. OLIVER and Justin were both there and of course COLBEY. Justin did so well, I wish I had his public skeaking skills....but I'll get there! OLIVER was amazing as well. I was really impressed with his progress on "lift"...awesome. COLBEY did pretty well. She was pretty mouthy as I say, whining. But that was the first time she had worked in a very long time. Afterward, we went to Olive Garden. COLBEY did much better there. She has almost mastered "go in", yay! It takes her about ten minutes or so to settle in, but then she sleeps.

Then, last week I took her to Bob Evans and A.C. Moore. Bob Evans went very well. Agan, she just took some time to settle in, but after that she did great! A.C. Moore went really well too....she is really progressing well. I am so excited!

We hope to get out a few times this week :) and next week over Thanksgiving break.
Anndddd....next Friday the 26th is COLBEY's 1st Birthday!! We are having a little celebration at the house with doggie cupcakes I found online and presents. She is not spoiled at all.

All for now,
Liv and COLBEY

COLBEY has recovered!

COLBEY is doing very very well. We took her staples out this past Monday and Tuesday (we took every other one on Monday, and the rest on Tuesday). She had one incident of vomitting this week, but I think it was from her trying to eat a piece of raw hide. I moved her out of my room yesterday....it was a little lonely, but she did just fine back in her normal spot. COLBEY finished the last of her antibiotics yesterday morning, but I am still keeping her on Reglan, Pepcid, and probotics. This coming Friday COLBEY and I may go to an event for Justin if it works with our schedule, and she is still doing well. Thanks for checking on COLB!
Love,
Liv and COLBEY

Update on COLBEY

COLBEY is doing excellent after her surgery. She is acting like nothing ever happened. She is still on her rice and chicken diet and on her antibiotics and pain pills. She has been doing alot of resting! COLBEY did throw up for the first time in the middle of the night last night and also this morning she was oozing a little bit from her incision. I spoke with the vet this morning and she said she is probably just being a little too active...which yesterday she did not do as much resting. She suggested putting a belly band around her to make her feel like she in injured. Also, we may start her on Reglan or Pepcid if she continues to vomit or switch her antibiotics but hopefully we will not need to.
I have been busy catering to Miss COLB but today I have to go back to school. My mom will be taking care of her for me while I'm in class.
Please continue to keep COLBEY in your thoughts and prayers for her complete recovery.....and for her to settle down!
Thanks a bunch!
Olivia and COLBEY
